Cigar box guitars originated through Blues and Folk traditions, where players made music from the materials that came to hand.

In creating Avocet Cigar Box Guitars we are influenced and motivated by this history without being constrained by it. The unique appearance and even more importantly, the function of our handcrafted instruments continue to inspire creativity in beginners and experienced musicians alike.

The evolution of Avocet guitars also owes much to the feedback received from those who have viewed and played them at the craft markets and music festivals over the past decade.
